Most roof paint jobs fail because the surface wasn't prepared properly. Loose pointing, missed moss, poor primer coverage — these are the things that cause flaking, fading and fast deterioration. At Elite Roofing, we treat painting as the *final step* of restoration, not a quick coat. Every roof is pressure-washed, treated for moss and lichen, repaired where needed, and primed properly before a single drop of topcoat goes on.
Our roof painting service covers both tiled roofs and Colorbond/metal roofs. Each project includes high-pressure cleaning, full moss and lichen treatment, repair of any cracked tiles or damaged sections, application of a sealant primer, and two coats of premium-grade Dulux Acratex membrane paint. The result is a finish that protects the roof, lifts the look of the home, and lasts.
Dulux Acratex is the industry-leading roof coating in Australia. Specifically engineered for harsh Australian sun, rain, and temperature swings, it bonds properly to both tile and metal substrates, resists UV degradation, and is made in Australia for our conditions. It's our standard on every job, and we back our roof restorations with a 15-year warranty. Prefer a different brand of premium paint? We're happy to use it — just ask.
We finish in the Dulux AcraTex Roof Membrane range — over 500 colours across the Dulux AcraTex and Colorbond ranges, in your choice of gloss or satin. Popular roof colours include greys like Windspray, Basalt, Woodland Grey, Shale Grey and Mid Grey; naturals like Surfmist, Dune, Paperbark, Jasper and Ironstone; reds and terracottas like Terracotta, Heritage Red, Tuscan Red and Manor Red; greens like Pale Eucalypt, Cottage Green and Brunswick Green; and the ever-popular charcoal, Monument. Not sure what suits your home? We'll help you choose.
Every roof painting job follows the same proven sequence. First we inspect the roof and quote honestly — if it needs repairs before paint, we'll tell you. Then we pressure-wash thoroughly and apply moss treatment. Cracked tiles get replaced, ridge caps get re-bedded and pointed where needed, then we apply a bonding primer. Once that's dry, two coats of Acratex membrane finish. Total time on site is usually 2–4 days depending on roof size and weather.
When prep is done properly and premium paint is used, a Dulux Acratex roof coating lasts 10–15 years or more. Cheaper paints applied over poor prep can fail within 2–3 years.
Yes — terracotta can be painted, though it needs the right preparation and primer to bond properly to the glazed surface. In many cases a thorough pressure-wash and treatment restores the natural terracotta look beautifully, so we'll assess your roof and give you an honest recommendation either way.
Just clear access around the house and move any outdoor furniture or cars away from the work area. We handle everything else — including covering windows, plants, and outdoor surfaces.
The roof needs to be fully dry before paint goes on — usually 24–48 hours after washing, longer in cooler weather. We never rush this step.
