Tile Roof Restoration by Elite Roofing Restorations

A full tile restoration is genuinely a transformation

When a tile roof is at the end of its first life — faded, mossy, with crumbling pointing and the odd cracked tile — a full restoration brings it back to better than new. Done properly, it adds 20–25 years to the roof's lifespan and noticeably lifts the value of the home. Our complete tile restoration includes every step: pressure wash, moss treatment, replacement of broken tiles, re-bedding and re-pointing of all ridge caps, sealant primer, and two coats of premium Dulux Acratex.

The Full Process

A complete tile restoration is a 4–6 day job. Day 1: inspection, prep, and high-pressure wash. Day 2: moss treatment, broken tile replacement, repairs to flashings or valleys. Days 3–4: re-bedding and re-pointing of ridge caps. Day 5: sealant primer coat. Day 6: two finish coats of Dulux Acratex. We clean up properly between each stage and leave the property as we found it.

Which Tiles We Restore

We restore concrete (cement) tile roofs of all profiles — Monier, Boral, Bristile, CSR, and others. We also work on terracotta tile roofs, though terracotta can't be painted (the glazed surface won't hold coating). For terracotta we focus on pressure washing, re-bedding, re-pointing, and tile replacement to restore the original look.

How Long It Lasts

A properly executed tile restoration with Dulux Acratex coating lasts 15–20 years on the paint, and the re-bedding/re-pointing work will last 25+ years. So you're looking at roughly two decades before the roof needs significant work again — and even then, usually just a repaint, not a full restoration.

Honest Assessment First

Not every tile roof needs a full restoration. Sometimes a pressure wash is enough. Sometimes you need re-bedding but not paint. Sometimes the roof has reached the end of its life and a full reroof would be smarter than a restoration. We'll tell you straight what we see and what makes sense for your situation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should a tile roof last before restoration? +

Most concrete tile roofs need restoration around the 20–25 year mark. Some last longer, depending on exposure, original quality, and maintenance.

Will the new paint match my house? +

We help you choose a colour from the Dulux Acratex range that suits the house and surrounds. We can show samples and reference photos before committing to a colour.

Can you do a part-restoration? +

Yes — if only part of the roof needs work (e.g. one face that's badly weathered or one section with damaged tiles), we can quote on that specifically.

What's the warranty? +

Dulux Acratex paint carries a manufacturer's warranty, and our workmanship is guaranteed. We'll provide written warranty details with the quote.
